Any day Ernst gave the GOP response to the State of the Union cover (which included tales of a hardscrabble childhood involving shoes protected according to plastic bread bags) Converse has announced a spring 2015 collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Creative arts that puts the late artist’s pop art imagery — consist of those iconic Campbell soup ales — on a range of high- so low-top Chuck Taylor All Movie star sneakers and T-shirts for men and women.
V of Warhol’s Campbell Soup will probably prints, perhaps his most well-known exercise, appear on both low-top and high-top Chuck Taylor silhouettes either to get single image (as in the tomato soup high-top in the photo above) or layered in multiples. The exact footwear also includes a range of Chucks showing motorcycle prints and newspaper trouble inspired by Warhol’s Ads so Illustration series circa 1985-86.
Indeed those sneakers look good. Wearable traditions art.
In a meta move that many Warhol himself would no doubt see amusing, one of the three graphic Tshirts that make up the apparel side around the collection is an image of a Discuss Chuck Taylor All Star high-top sneaker — from an original Warhol work titled Converse Extra Special Realize.
The Andy Warhol Foundation includes long history of licensing its namesake’s work to fashion and style models. Past collaborators include Paul Fluent and Levi Strauss & C., to name just two. This week’s announcement notes that a portion of the most important proceeds from the Converse collection will be able to support the programs of the Manhattan-based foundation.
The Converse All Movie star Andy Warhol collection ($35 which will $95) will be available for purchase starting Feb .. 7 at select brick-and-mortar e-tailers and online at converse. junto de.
